The technology, that helps in better utilization and storage of fish, is found in the production offish protein concentrates (FPC). This technology consists of removing water from fish meat and concentrating the protein. These products lack functional properties including rehydration ability, which makes it difficult to process them with other foods. Although a method for production of FPC has been developed, it has not yet been possible to market it successfully.

Sulphated polysaccharides from seaweed possess antiviral, antiinflammatory, anticoagulant, antinociception, antitumor, antiallergic and immunological activities which can be useful to fight Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.Full Text

In India, nutrient-deficient diets are a fact of everyday life for millions of people, and the largest undernourished population in the world lives in our country. Several factors are responsible for the current serious levels of malnutrition seen in the country, some of which are inadequate maternal nutritional status, unpredictable lactation behaviour, inappropriate infant and young children feeding practices, lack of women’s education, and scant regard for sanitation. High levels of child malnutrition potentially result in poor physical growth, recurrent childhood illnesses that further impede development, low cognitive skills and educational attainment, and diminished productivity in adult years, thus impeding socio-economic development of the country. Though several government programmes are in place, there is lack of effective use of nutritional data generated and knowledge gained across studies to address the multifaceted problem of undernutrition. The current grave circumstances of undernutrition in India emphasize on the urgent need to take appropriate actions to improve the nutrition of its population so as to enable the country to meet its Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.Keywords

Live fish has emerged as a highly in-demand commodity in the recent past due to the progressive quality concepts of seafood consumers. Live fish transportation depends on several internal and external factors which need to be considered critically for improving survival as well as quality during transportation. The lack of a systematic approach for live fish transportation, from on-farm handling to marketing, is the most significant issue faced by the stakeholders. This article provides an integrated insight into the current state of knowledge in the field of live transportation of food fishes emphasizing the significance, present status, challenges and exploration possibilities.Keywords
